Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach was an Austrian architect.
Blake Edwards must have liked his style for buildings in Carpania, as he used three buildings designed by Erlach.

[3] Coronation church (interior) - Karlskirche Vienna

As it turns out, the ballroom scenes were NOT filmed at Schönbrunn Palace, which considerably weakens the above observation.
