Rocket stunt location

Postby ric » Wed Mar 02, 2016 11:27 am

I stumbled onto a post on Amazon.com describing the exact location this was filmed at.
W. Craig wrote:I was 13 when this came out. Can't drive by Ducker's Road just off the Old Frankfort Pike (road #1681 in Kentucky) without stopping to take a look at the filming location of Fate and Max's launch of their ill-fated (excuse the pun) rocket sled.

That actually puts it on the intersection of Duckers Rd and Harmony Lane, here: https://goo.gl/maps/C8pVeNTyrZ92
Unfortunately, there's no Google street view in Duckers Rd.
You can see it briefly right at the start of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zh965tc3Qw

The building next to the tracks was the "Duckers General Store", and you can just make out the word "ICE" on the little building outside the store.
Plainly the building has been reclad in the meantime, and the front balcony has been built over, but the general shape is still the same.

The rail line looks brand new in the film, which is surprising, as the line past Duckers Store was first built in 1834.
See: http://lexhistory.org/wikilex/lexington-ohio-railroad
Its use in the film is mentioned at http://lexhistory.org/wikilex/louisvile ... d-old-road although they get the year wrong.
