It turns out, the location where the Stanley Steamer broke down is only just down the road!

They probably shot both scenes the same day, and there's a convenient canyon just behind the rocks where all the support trailers could hide.

and you can just make out the rock in the background as the Leslie Special approaches the broken down Stanley Steamer.
